What is in a matcha set?
A complete matcha set holds four things: a bamboo whisk (chasen) to break up the powder, a wide ceramic bowl (chawan) with room to whisk, a bamboo scoop (chashaku) to measure, and a whisk holder that keeps the prongs in shape between uses. A sifter and an airtight tin are the two additions worth making once you drink matcha daily. Sets on this page run from $45 to $169, and a bare chasen on its own is $10.
Which matcha kit should you start with?
