Strabella Ceremonial Matcha Powder is a smooth, balanced single-origin Japanese matcha — ceremonial grade, stone-ground to a velvety powder. Made for the daily ritual: bright, gently sweet, naturally umami, and never bitter. Whisk it hot for a traditional bowl, or shake it cold for a smooth iced matcha latte.
Each tin contains 1.9 oz (54 g) — about 27 servings. Sealed for freshness, ships from California.
Why you'll love it

- Single ingredient: Japanese matcha green tea powder, stone-ground.
- Smooth & balanced. Naturally sweet umami, no bitter aftertaste, no grit.
- Versatile. Works for traditional whisking, lattes, iced matcha, and baking.
How to prepare the perfect matcha
- Scoop. 1 teaspoon (about 2 g) of matcha into a bowl.
- Sift. Use a wire sifter to break up any clumps for a silky finish.
- Whisk. Add 2–3 oz of hot water (160–175°F / 70–80°C) and whisk briskly in an M motion until frothy.
- Enjoy. Sip straight, or top with steamed milk for a smooth matcha latte. For iced: pour over ice with cold milk.

Frequently asked questions
Is this real ceremonial-grade matcha?
Yes. Sourced from Japan, shade-grown, first-harvest leaves stone-ground to a fine powder. Vibrant jade green, smooth taste, no bitter aftertaste.
Will it taste bitter?
Not if you use the right water temperature. Boiling water scorches matcha and makes it bitter. Use 160–175°F (70–80°C) and you'll get a naturally sweet, balanced cup.
Can I make a cafe-style iced matcha with it?
Yes — that's our favorite way to drink it in summer. Whisk with 2 oz hot water until smooth, pour over a glass of ice and cold oat or whole milk. Smooth latte, no clumps.
How long will the tin last?
About 27 servings at 1 tsp (2 g) per cup — roughly a month for a daily drinker, or two months for a few-times-a-week ritual.
Do you ship from the US?
Yes. Shipped from our California warehouse, usually within one business day.
Where does this matcha come from?
This 54g tin is single-origin ceremonial matcha from the Uji region of Japan, shade-grown and stone-ground from first-harvest leaves. Each Strabella matcha lists its own origin: this tin is Uji, our Nami Yame 30g comes from Yame in Fukuoka, and Nami Okumidori is the Okumidori cultivar. We never blend origins under one label.
What is the difference between ceremonial and culinary matcha?
Ceremonial grade uses first-harvest, shade-grown leaves stone-ground fine enough to drink whisked with only water — smooth, naturally sweet, no bitterness. Culinary grade uses later harvests with a stronger, more astringent taste meant for baking and heavily blended drinks. This tin is ceremonial grade; for drinking straight or in a simple latte, ceremonial is the right buy.
How much matcha powder should I use per cup?
Use one teaspoon, about 2 grams, per cup for a standard bowl or latte; 1 gram makes a lighter cup. Sift it first, add 2 to 3 oz of water at 160-175°F, and whisk until frothy. At 2 grams per serving this 54g tin makes about 27 cups; at 1 gram, up to 54.
Should I store matcha in the fridge or the cupboard?
Unopened, a cool dark cupboard is fine. After opening, keep the tin tightly sealed away from light, heat, and moisture. A fridge works only if the tin stays airtight and you let it reach room temperature before opening, which prevents condensation. Ours ships in a sealed tin, so there is no transferring powder to a jar.
Does matcha expire after opening?
Matcha does not spoil quickly, but it fades — the color dulls and the fresh sweetness flattens as it oxidizes. We recommend finishing an opened tin within three months, and flavor is brightest in the first month. A daily drinker finishes this 54g tin in roughly a month, which is why we offer a monthly subscribe and save option.
Is a matcha subscription worth it?
If you drink matcha most days, yes. A 54g tin at 2 grams per day lasts about 27 days, so a monthly delivery matches how people actually run out. Our subscribe and save plans come in weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly frequencies, save money on every tin, and can be paused or cancelled anytime.
How can I tell if matcha is good quality before buying?
Check four things: a vivid jade-green color rather than dull olive, a named single origin instead of a vague made-in-Japan label, an airtight opaque tin rather than a clear bag, and first-harvest ceremonial grading. This tin states its origin, Uji, Japan, in the specifications, and ships sealed from our California warehouse.
Is Uji matcha better than Yame matcha?
Neither is better; they taste different. Uji, near Kyoto, is the historic heart of matcha and tends toward a rounded, classic umami. Yame, in Fukuoka, is known for deep natural sweetness. We sell both origins: this 54g tin is Uji, and our Nami 30g is single-origin Yame, so you can compare the regions side by side.
