The matcha ritual, in roasted tea — bamboo whisk, ceramic bowl, and Kyoto hojicha powder.
What is hojicha?
Hojicha is a Japanese green tea that has been roasted, which turns it from grassy and bright into something warm, round and smooth. The roasting burns off much of the caffeine, so hojicha is naturally low in caffeine — gentle enough for the late afternoon or evening. Expect notes of caramel, toasted nuts and wood. It's whisked exactly like matcha, making a comforting, milky cup without the jitters. The Strabella Hojicha Set pairs a bamboo whisk and ceramic bowl with 30g of stone-milled Kyoto hojicha, so the tools and the tea arrive together in one box.
TL;DR
- Bamboo whisk + ceramic bowl + hojicha powder — a complete roasted-tea kit, ready out of the box.
- $89 (was $99) — the full set, including the tea.
- Naturally low caffeine — toasty, nutty, gentle. The cup for the afternoon and evening.
Hojicha vs matcha
Where matcha is vivid, grassy and energizing, hojicha is roasted, round and calm. The roasting lowers the caffeine considerably, so a cup in the late afternoon won't keep you up. Think of it as the evening to matcha's morning. New to the ritual? Our matcha guide walks through the whisking basics — they're identical for both.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is hojicha the same as matcha?
No — both are green tea, but hojicha is roasted, which makes it lower in caffeine with a toasty, mellow flavor instead of matcha's bright, grassy taste. The whisk and bowl work for both.
Does this come with the tea included?
Yes — unlike our basic Matcha Tea Set, this one includes 30g of Kyoto hojicha powder, so it's ready to use the moment it arrives.
Can I use this set for matcha too?
Absolutely. The bamboo whisk and ceramic bowl are standard matcha tools — just add matcha powder. We use single-origin Yame matcha; you can read about our matcha here.
