Family-built since 2023.
I started Strabella in 2023, in our kitchen in Newport Beach.
The first thing we made was the matcha bowl — heavy enough to hold heat through a full sit. Fourteen versions before we got it right.
Everything we sell now is a thing we kept on our counter for a month before shipping. The stone drying mat. The brush set. The cutting board that came out of the dishwasher unscarred.

MATCHA AT HOME
How to make matcha in 90 seconds
The four steps that actually matter — from a kitchen in Newport Beach.
Sift the matcha
About 1 gram, or half a teaspoon. Through a fine sieve into a wide bowl. Don't skip this — clumped matcha never fully whisks.
Pour 175°F water
Hot, but not boiling. Boiling water makes ceremonial matcha bitter. Start with one tablespoon — just enough to make a paste.
Whisk in a W motion
Not a circle. Two strokes per second, from the wrist. The chasen prongs are designed for back-and-forth. Stop at fine foam.
Drink within 2 minutes
The foam dissipates fast. So does the heat. The bowl was made heavier than usual to slow this down — but only by a minute.
